Launch of ANREV/INREV/PREA Investment Intentions Asia Survey 2021 - Regional

The first session of a series of webinars launching our Investment Intentions Asia Survey 2021 is successfully held on 14 January.

The 2021 ANREV/INREV/PREA Investment Intentions survey attracted 99 respondents in total including 84 institutional investors and 15 funds of funds managers. At this session Ms. Amélie Delaunay, ANREV's Director of Research & Professional Standards and our Research Committee  Chair Mr Glyn Nelson of AEW, together with a panel of experts including Dr Megan Walters of Allianz, Ms Han Hwee Chin of GIC and Mr Thomas Au of Invesco shared with us the key highlights of the survey and lead the panel discussions with a regional focus.

Amélie Delaunay
Director of Research & Professional Standards
ANREV

Amélie Delaunay is the Director of Research and Professional Standards for ANREV. She is responsible for the development and implementation of ANREV’s Research, Performance Measurement and Professional Standards programmes in Asia Pacific, including market information and performance indices, global surveys and promotion of best practices for the industry.

Amélie has more than 18 years of experience in the real estate industry and a strong real estate consulting background initially with Ernst & Young. She has been based in Asia for more than 14 years.

Educated at the Sorbonne in Paris, where she was awarded a post graduate degree in Urban Geography, Town Planning and Real Estate, Amélie also has an Advanced Master's Degree in Urban and Real Estate Management from ESSEC Business School in Paris. Amélie is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

Glyn Nelson
Director of Research - Asia Pacific
AEW

Mr. Nelson is Director of Research for AEW in Asia Pacific with responsibility for directing the firm’s research activities in the region. Based in Singapore, he is a member of the AEW Asia Pacific Investment Committee and a member of the firm’s Global Securities Allocation Committee. Mr. Nelson’s responsibilities include monitoring, evaluating and forecasting the macroeconomic environment, demographic trends and capital market conditions across the Asia Pacific region. He interprets this information for AEW’s senior professionals in order to provide decision support to the investment, asset management and portfolio management activities of AEW in the region.

Prior to joining AEW, Mr. Nelson served as Head of Asia Pacific Property Research for Aberdeen Asset Management and as Head of Real Estate Intelligence for Jones Lang LaSalle, both based in Singapore. He has also held property market research positions at CB Richard Ellis and DTZ in Auckland, New Zealand. He is a graduate of University of Auckland and University of Texas at Arlington (M.S. in Real Estate).

Dr Megan Walters
Global Head of Research
Allianz Real Estate

Dr Megan Walters is Global head of research at Allianz Real Estate. Prior to this Dr Walters led a team of 170 researchers at JLL as head of research Asia Pacific and was member of the leadership board at JLL Asia Pacific. Before pursuing research, Dr Walters worked for a real estate investment firm, a development company on PFI deals for schools and hospitals, a hotels firm and as an academic.  

Dr Walters is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, she has a PhD in real estate economics from University of Hong Kong, and degrees from the University of Reading. She currently serves as a Global Governing Trustee of ULI, and sits on the ANREV Management Board and on the Asia Pacific board of the RICS.

Han Hwee Chin
Senior Vice-President, Research and Strategic Planning
GIC Real Estate

Han Hwee Chin is Senior Vice-President (Research and Strategic Planning) of GIC Real Estate. GIC Real Estate invests outside of Singapore and has teams in nine offices worldwide, managing a well-diversified portfolio in various property sectors. 

At GIC Real Estate, Hwee Chin undertakes property research and monitoring long-term trends of Asia-Pacific property markets. She also manages the design, composition and risk management framework of the real estate portfolio from a top-down, bottom-up approach, to formulate investment strategies globally across markets and property sectors and provide directional recommendations on portfolio composition on a risk-adjusted basis. 

Hwee Chin graduated from the National University of Singapore with a first-class honours degree in Real Estate and has an MBA from the University of Western Australia. She started her career with JTC Corporation and joined the Ministry of Trade and Industry (Singapore), before moving to GIC. 

Thomas Au
Managing Director, Head of Asia Pacific Real Estate Research
Invesco Real Estate

Thomas began his invesmtent career in 1994 and joined Invesco Real Estate in 2006. Prior to joining Invesco, he was a director of research and consultancy of Savills (Hong Kong) Ltd. where he conducted various consulting projects including market studies, asset reviews and feasibility studies for institutional investors, real estate developers and listed property trusts. Before joinng Savliss, Thomas also obtained substantial experience in property valuation from the valuation departments of Chesterton Petty Ltd. and First Pacific Davies (Hong Kong) Ltd. where he conducted real estate valuation for clients for financing, litigation and taxation purposes.

Thomas earned a Master of Science in Financial Management degree from the University of London (United Kingdom), a Postgraduate Diploma in Surveying (Real Estate Development) from the University of Hong Kong (Hong Kong) and a Bachelor of Mathematics degree from the University of Waterloo (Canada). He is a member of both the Asian Executive Committee and the Asian Investment Committee of Invesco Real Estate. He is also a member of ANREV Research Committee.
