This webinar session is successfully held on 12 November 2020.

At this session, a panel of experts reviewed the development of the private real estate debt markets in Australia from the days of straightforward bank lending to today, with sophisticated debt fund proliferation and non-bank finance. Lessons learnt for the rest of Asia also considered.
 
The discussion covered volumes, returns and foreign / local players in the sector, key components [construction, property lending ] , ESG relevance and the future of the debt market.

Sarah Winbur
Portfolio Manager, Real Estate Asia Pacific

Sarah Winbur is a Portfolio Manager for Private Real Estate, APG Asset Management Asia. Based in Hong Kong, she responsible for a wide range of investments across Australia, China, India, Japan and Malaysia, with over 10 years’ experience in the real estate and funds management industry. Prior to joining APG in 2018, Sarah was Assistant Portfolio Manager for Savills Investment Management in both Hong Kong and London, covering asset management, portfolio management and capital transactions for pooled European funds and separate accounts. Sarah holds a Masters in Real Estate and First Class Honours from the University of Durham.

Bart Coenraads
Global Strategy Director, Head of Asia Pacific
LaSalle Global Partner Solutions

Bart leads LaSalle GPS investment selection in Asia Pacific, as well as secondary and recapitalisation investment opportunities. As Global Strategy Director, he is responsible for coordinating and monitoring the investment strategy for LaSalle GPS clients.
Bart has over 27 years of experience in real estate investments. His experience covers direct – as well as indirect real estate investments besides having covered real estate developments.  Prior to LaSalle, he was Global Head and earlier Head of Asia Pacific for Aviva Investors’ Real Estate Multi-Manager business. He has also been the CIO of Private Real Estate at BNP Paribas Investment Partners for over 5 years where he has started the Funds of Funds business. He has worked at Mn Services as the Sr. Portfolio Manager International Real Estate managing and growing the allocation to private funds in the Asia Pacific region as well as managing the Asia Pacific real estate securities portfolio. Prior to that he worked around 6.5 years on direct real estate asset and investment management of a large Dutch Retailing company (Royal Ahold) where he was responsible asset managing a part of the portfolio, as well as initiating real estate developments. 
Bart holds a Masters in Real Estate from the University of Amsterdam and a BA in Legal and Economics from the Fontys Hogeschool, Eindhoven.

Padraig Brown
Principal, Head of Real Estate - Pacific
Mercer

Padraig is a Principal of Mercer Alternatives and is Head of Real Estate for the Pacific region, responsible for investment, consulting and research. Padraig has been Portfolio Manager for the Mercer Australian Direct Property Fund since 2013.  Padraig is a member of the Mercer Alternatives Real Estate Investment Committee and Mercer's Global Real Estate Ratings Review Committee.

Prior to joining Mercer in 2011, Padraig was Global Real Estate Strategist for BlackRock. In this capacity he advised the firm on global investment utilising equity, debt and synthetic exposure. Prior to joining BlackRock, Padraig was a member of JLL's Global Capital Markets Group, advising clients on global strategy and cross-border real estate acquisitions.
Padraig has over 20 years of global investment and strategy experience spanning direct property investment, multi-manager, private equity and infrastructure development.

Padraig holds a MSc from the London School of Economics and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.

Trent Winduss
Director, CIO of Debt Fund and Head of Australia
Phoenix Property Investors

Mr. Winduss has worked in the structured real estate finance market in Australia for over eighteen years. Since 2009, Mr. Winduss has originated and closed 45 debt and equity transactions in Australia with US$ 640 million of total capital invested, of which 36 transactions have been successfully exited (9 are unrealized). He was with Qualitas Property Partners prior to Phoenix, where he was a Director of the Real Estate Finance Team. At Qualitas, he originated and executed senior debt, stretch senior debt, mezzanine debt, distressed debt, preferred equity, and equity transactions. Before Qualitas, he was a Director at Investec Bank within the Structured Real Estate Finance team. 

Mr. Winduss also worked at NM Rothschild and Sons, focusing on real estate and infrastructure debt and advisory transactions. Mr. Winduss holds a Bachelor of Business majoring in Accounting and Finance (Honours) from Edith Cowan University and a Master of Commerce (Finance) from the University of Western Australia.

Yossi Kraemer
Head Institutional Capital

Yossi is responsible for the firm’s institutional capital relationships as well as our general investor relations program. Yossi has over 20 years’ experience in global real estate finance and capital markets with extensive experience in real estate structured products and capital raising.

Prior to joining Qualitas Yossi worked for Royal Bank of Scotland in London where he was the Head of Real Estate Capital Markets and Real Estate Syndications for Europe, Middle East and Asia. Prior to RBS, Yossi had senior roles at both Credit Suisse and BNP Paribas.
