Natalie Breen
Partner
Norton Rose Fulbright

Natalie Breen is a real estate lawyer based in Singapore and leads the cross-border real estate capability in the Asia Pacific region.
 
Natalie focuses on international investment and has been instrumental in assisting Asian and global investors in originating and executing commercial real estate opportunities in the Asia Pacific region, as well as opportunities into Australia, the United Kingdom, Europe and the United States. Natalie’s clients include global pension funds, S-REITS, sovereign wealth funds, family office, hotel and hospitality groups and multinationals. She is also an Independent Chair of RICS Asia Pacific Regulatory Sub-Board and a Member of RICS Global Regulatory Board.
 
Natalie has extensive cross-border real estate transaction experience, having acted for REITS on the acquisition, disposal and asset management of investments offshore, particularly in Asia and Europe.
 
Prior to joining Norton Rose Fulbright, Natalie worked as the senior real estate in-house counsel at both a listed Australian financial services group and leading Australian REIT.
 

 

Bart Coenraads
Global Managing Director – Indirect Real Estate
Aviva Investors

Bart Coenraads is the Global MD for Indirect Real Estate at Aviva Investors. The Indirect Real Estate AUM is around 9.5 bln USD, invested over approximately 240 different investments worldwide. He has joined the investment industry in 1995 and Aviva Investors in December 2010.

Bart is voting member and chairs the Global Investment Committee and leads on investment selection in Asia Pacific. He is also on the Aviva Investors Asia Pacific Executive Committee and Global Real Estate Executive Committee.

Bart has over 20 years of experience in real estate investments as well as managing direct real estate portfolios. His experience covers direct – as well as indirect real estate investments besides having covered real estate developments. Before joining Aviva Investors, he has been the CIO of Private Real Estate at BNP Paribas Investment Partners for over 5 years where he has started the Funds of Funds business. He has also worked at Mn Services as the Sr. Portfolio Manager International Real Estate managing and growing the allocation to private funds in the Asia Pacific region as well as managing the Asia Pacific real estate securities portfolio. Prior to that he worked around 6.5 years on direct real estate asset and investment management of a large Dutch Retailing company (Royal Ahold) where he was responsible asset managing a part of the portfolio, as well as initiating real estate developments.

Bart holds a Legal and Economics bachelor degree from the Fontys Hogeschool in Eindhoven. He also holds a master of real estate degree from the University of Amsterdam.

 

Niel Thassim
Head of Asia
Brookfield Private Funds Group
 
Mr. Thassim joined Brookfield as Asia Head of the Private Funds Group, based in Hong Kong.  In this role, Mr. Thassim is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with leading investors in the region.  Prior to his current role, Mr. Thassim most recently served as a Managing Director at Deutsche Bank and the Asia Pacific Head of Deutsche Bank’s Real Estate investment management business (RREEF). He also previously held senior roles within RREEF and Deutsche Bank in Australia, London and Singapore. Prior to this, Mr. Thassim held executive positions with Coopers & Lybrand, Bankers Trust, Credit Suisse First Boston and Colonial First State Investments in Australia and the United Kingdom.
 
Mr. Thassim has over 19 years of finance, accounting and real estate investment management experience.  Mr Thassim graduated from the University of Sydney, Australia with a Bachelor of Economics (Accounting) degree and holds a Masters of Applied Finance Degree from Macquarie University, Australia.  Mr Thassim is also a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Australia.
 

 

Alex Crossing
Director
CBRE Global Investment Partners
 
Alex Crossing has responsibility for leading real estate transactions for GIP in the Asia-Pacific, sourcing and undertaking due diligence on investment opportunities including joint ventures, co-investments, club deals and fund investments (both primary funds and on the secondary market). Alex is also responsible for ongoing monitoring and management of client investments across the Asia-Pacific region and represents GIP clients on Advisory Committees and Joint Venture boards.   She is also GIP’s Global ESG Co-ordinator and is responsible for client investments in farmland.
 
Alex has 18 years’ experience in the real estate sector with 11 of these in Asia. She joined the GIP team from CBRE Consulting in Hong Kong where she performed a regional role across the CBRE platform. She worked with a diverse range of clients providing strategic investment advice including market entry strategies and feasibility studies.
 
Her earlier career was in property management in Australia for AMP Capital and prior to that she was the Analyst at Tourism Asset Holdings Limited (TAHL) working on a portfolio of 28 hotels across Australia and New Zealand.  Alex holds a Bachelor of Business from the University of Technology, Sydney and a Graduate Diploma of Applied Finance & Investment from the Securities Institute of Australia (now FINSIA).
