The ANREV Investment Intentions Survey 2021 – Japan focused webinar session is successfully held on 28 January 2021.

The 2021 ANREV/INREV/PREA Investment Intentions survey attracted 99 respondents in total including 84 institutional investors and 15 funds of funds managers. At this session, the key highlights of the survey was presented by Amelie Delaunay, Director of Research and Professional Standards at ANREV.  Mr Koichiro Obu,  Director - Head of Research & Strategy Asia Pacific at DWS, moderated a panel discussion with a special focus on Japan.

Koichiro Obu
Director, Head of Research & Strategy, Asia Pacific, Alternatives
DWS

Mr. Obu is a Director of Deutsche Asset Management (Japan) and Head of Research and Strategy for DWS Alternatives Asia Pacific. He is responsible for building strategies and coordinating coverage of real estate and infrastructure markets in Asia Pacific. Prior to joining Deutsche Bank group in July 2007, Mr. Obu was Head of real estate and construction team at Corporate Research Department in SMBC in Tokyo. Before then, he was a senior research analyst at London branch of Sumitomo for six years covering the real estate and telecom sectors in Europe. He received a B.A. in economics from the University of Tokyo. He is the author of “Asia Pacific Strategic Outlook” semi annual paper and “Japan Quarterly” real estate research paper and a frequent speaker at industry events and conferences.

Naoya Nakata
Managing Director
PAG Real Estate

Mr. Nakata joined PAG Real Estate in Tokyo (Formerly, Secured Capital) in 2006 and has been instrumental for the core-plus/value-add fund business in Japan. He is currently Japan portfolio manager and IC member of PAG’s core-plus/value add fund which has invested USD 2.4 billion of GAV in Japan since 2015.
Prior to joining PAG Real Estate, he worked for Nippon Life Insurance Co. as a portfolio manager and actively managed the company’s 400 office building portfolio.


Mr. Nakata received his BA degree in French Language and Literature from Kyoto University in 1986 and MBA degree from INSEAD in 1993. He is Chartered Member of the Securities Analysts Association of Japan and is Licensed Housing Land and Properties Broker.
 

Masahiko Tajima
President & CEO
Kenedix Real Estate Fund Management

Mr. Tajima is the President & CEO of Kenedix Real Estate Fund Management, Inc. (KFM) which manages 3 listed J-REITs (Kenedix Office Investment Corporation, Kenedix Residential NEXT Investment Corporation and Kenedix Retail REIT Corporation) and one private REIT (Kenedix Private Investment Corporation). 

After joining the Kenedix Group in 2005, Mr. Tajima was responsible for REIT financing and investor relations as Director and the Head of Financial Planning Department of KFM. He was appointed the Head of Corporate Planning Department of Kenedix, Inc. in 2012 and Director & CFO in 2015. Prior to joining Kenedix, he worked at the Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank, Limited and Sumitomo Life Insurance Company, where he gained extensive securitization experience. With over 30 years’ experience in the finance, capital markets and asset management businesses, he has amassed rich experience and knowledge.

Mr. Tajima has a Bachelor of Law from Waseda University and an MBA from Columbia Business School.
 

Shinji Kawano
Head of Overseas Property Investment
Tokio Marine Asset Management

Shinji Kawano is a Head of Overseas Property Investment in Tokio Marine Asset Management. At the current role, he spearheads all of the overseas property investment activities on behalf of Japanese institutional clients. Prior to assuming the current post in 2012, he held various senior positions in fund management, asset management, business development or market research in the firm.

Prior to joining Tokio Marine Property Investment Management (presently, Tokio Marine Asset Management) in 2003, he worked as Investment Manager for Tokio Marine Fire & Insurance (presently, Tokio Marine & Nichido Fire Insurance) where he was responsible for direct investments in Japan and the UK as well as indirect investments in the US.
