Mr. Hayashi heads Phoenix’s Japan office and oversees Phoenix’s investments in Japan. He has over 20 years of experience in real estate private equity and investment banking, having compiled a successful track record during that time. Mr. Hayashi joined Phoenix from Aetos, where he served for 10 years as the Managing Director and Head of the Acquisitions Group. During this time he was responsible for acquiring JPY 1 trillion worth of assets.

Before Aetos, Mr. Hayashi spent 2 years with Morgan Stanley managing relationships for the firm’s Investment Banking clients in Japan. He began his career with Industrial Bank of Japan (also known as IBJ, now Mizuho Bank), where he spent 10 years. There Mr. Hayashi initially worked in commercial banking, including products such as corporate loans, foreign exchange, deposits and bank debentures. He spent 7 years in IBJ’s Luxembourg office.

Mr. Hayashi received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics at Keio University. He is a chartered member of the Security Analysts Association of Japan and a licensed Japanese real estate agent.
